The Commission on Population and Development (POPCOM) CALABARZON, the POPCOM Family Wellness Clinic (PFWC) and several LGU partners help couples achieve their desired number and spacing of births through Family Planning (FP) Outreach Missions.  The purpose of the missions is to provide various temporary FP supplies like pills, condoms, IUDs, implants, injectables, as well as permanent FP methods like Bilateral Tubal Ligation (BTL) to interested and qualified women and men (Non-Scalper Vasectomy or NSV).

From January 1 to August 11, 2021, the FP Outreach Missions has had a total of 16,877 FP acceptors.

According to POPCOM CALABARZON Regional Director (RD) Angelito S. Obcena, the provision of FP supplies/methods follows the principle of Informed Choice and Voluntarism (ICV).  Furthermore, RD Obcena said that other communication strategies initiated by POPCOM to generate demand on modern FP is its partnership with LGUs for the Responsible Parenthood and Family Planning (RPFP) classes, and with Civil Society Organizations like Integrated Midwives Association of the Philippines (IMAP), FriendlyCare Foundation, Inc. and DKT International for demand generation and delivery of FP services.

POPCOM CALABARZON also educates couples from indigenous groups, national housing targeting system (NHTS), Pre-Marriage Orientation and Counseling (PMOC), 4Ps as well as non-4Ps couples in the region in coordination with local population offices.

RD Obcena hopes that with the intensified demand-generation efforts directly link to FP service delivery through these FP outreach missions in helping couples achieve their desired number and timing of children, it will contribute to the attainment of zero unmet need for modern family planning.
