CALABARZON Provincial and City Population Officers along with POPCOM IV-A’s technical staff convened for its 2nd quarter Regional Population Management Committee (RPMC) Meeting on June 16-17, 2022 at the Bakasyunan Resort and Conference Center in Tanay, Rizal. POPCOM IV-A’s Regional Director, Angelito S. Obcena, MADem presided over the meeting which focused on the discussion of the key Philippine Population and Development Program (PPDP), namely, Responsible Parenthood and Family Planning (RPFP), Adolescent Health and Development (AHD) and Population and Development (POPDEV) Integration, being implemented locally based on the government’s Full Devolution Transition Plan (DTP).

This 2-day gathering highlighted the importance of strengthening each of the LGU’s capacity in implementing RPFP, AHD and POPDEV Integration services through policy formulation, partnership agreement, and technical assistance provision within their local areas. Furthermore, it served as a good venue to align with Local Population Officers on the current status of the conducted Mapping of Family Planning in Public Health Facilities, Rapid Appraisal Survey, and Pre-Marriage Orientation/ Counselling Guidelines in relation to Family Planning initiatives. On June 17, 2022, an orientation on POPDEV strategies was conducted at the Municipal Hall of Tanay, Rizal. Ms. Maylin Viray, Municipal Population Officer along with Barangay Wawa’s Secretary, Mr. Gilbert Catambay oriented RPMC participants with a thorough discussion of their best practices on the municipality’s Migration Information Center (MIC), and how such use of databases, a strategy worth emulating by other LGUs, is beneficial in monitoring the population movement within their area as well as carrying out their programs efficiently. #
